Pocatello Doctor Helps Nepal One Year Later

April 25 marked the one year anniversary of the devastating earthquakes that struck Nepal. Pocatello doctor, Fahim Rahim has been active in working to help the people of Nepal rebuild their communities.

Unfortunately, little rebuilding has happened in Nepal. TIME magazine reported that many people in Nepal are still living in temporary shelters because the money that the international community donated is not getting to citizens because of political unrest in the nation. As an article from The Telegraph says, this is a problem because it means that Nepalese families will have to spend another monsoon season without proper shelter.

While this is discouraging, it has not stopped Dr. Rahim from continuing to help the people of Nepal in any way that he can. This includes charities such as the Eight for Eight organization that he spoke about at the Idaho State University Frank Church Symposium.

The above story highlights his goal of empowering women in Nepal and around the world. The Eight for Eight project is an ongoing effort and Dr. Rahim hopes to get businesses in the local community involved.

Recently Dr. Rahim spoke to KPVI news about his hopes for Nepal's future. Not only does he hope that Nepal will rebuild, he hopes that homes and building will be rebuilt better than they were before with technology such as smokeless stoves.
